Child Safety & Media Policy

How we protect dancers — in the studio, online, and in photos and video.

Last updated October 13, 2026

PlaceholderThis policy is a starting template. The organization should review it with counsel before relying on it.

Our commitment

Most of our dancers are minors. Their safety and dignity come before any performance, photo or post.

Staff and volunteers

Coaches and volunteers who work with dancers are expected to complete background screening where required, follow our code of conduct, and avoid one-on-one private communication with dancers outside of program channels. Communication about schedules and logistics goes to parents and guardians.

Photos and video

We photograph and film performances and practices to celebrate the team. A dancer appears in public media or on a public profile only with a parent or guardian’s consent, which can be withdrawn at any time in the parent portal or by contacting us. We never publish a dancer’s school, address, birth date, contact details or health information.

Public profiles

Public dancer profiles show a first name and last initial only (a full name only with explicit written permission), an approved photo, team and optional achievements. No popularity metrics, comments or direct messaging.

Online safety

Families should not share other dancers’ personal information online. Report anything concerning about our dancers online to the contact form on this site and we will act on it promptly.

Reporting concerns

If you have a concern about a child’s safety, tell a program director immediately. If a child is in immediate danger call 911. Suspected abuse can also be reported to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-342-3720.
